Schodt – Cinematico (Original Mix)

Starts out slowly,drum layerings build up to familiarity, then we’re hit with 70s style disco toots on a new top layer. The whole things wraps up superbly. It makes you feel like you’re in the front row of a super high end fashion show. Very catwalky and film strip like.The name does the tune justice, and unashamedly so! Chic, classy, sweet, moscato, camera, flashes; are what it evokes. The magic of the thing is when suddenly a zen bell tinkles, and then you have this serene euphoprically peaceful and haunting female vocal that simply laces its way in like pure silk on your ears. Fits in well in the gym, on a solitary jog, in the car or on film and stage. Absolute genius and perfection!

Once again Schodt totally “kills it” with this absolute work of art. The genre is a somewhat difficult one to bring fresh material forward with. In essence, a good breaks tune, in contemporary house terms, need to evoke an uplifting and yet subtly deep layered experience. At the same time, its difficult to get that tempo and layering perfectly without using a prepdone format and or blatantly copying. You HAVE to be unique and CREATE. Schodt does all of that and much much more. This has that certain punchy, almost latino Miami in the 80s feel. It has a class dripping “Al Italia” feel. It has the London, Paris, NYC circuit feel. It has the German “vors brung durch technic” accuracy. And yet there is the soul hugging, almost vedic or older vocals that just resonate no mater what ethnicity it is. Also a “bangin choon” for a long drive in “da stix” or a selfie moment in the gym.
